Last April, my husband and I went on a scouting trip for our 32nd wedding anniversary. The goal of this trip was to find places to ride and camp with horses within a few hour radius of home. We went several hours away and planned to stop at Trails-Etc. as our last stop on our way home. Boy am I glad we did! Who knew that only an hr and a half from home would be such a wonderful place?! I'd give it more stars if they were available! Kent and Dawn are the perfect hosts. When we arrived they had stalls ready for our horses complete with filled water buckets. Our campsite had a gorgeous view next to the lake. We received a personal tour on horseback of the trails and enjoyed campfire fellowship at night. (They are so delightful that we invited them.) And the trails....oh my! They are beautiful! I've never seen grassy road-like trails before. There are loops of them to canter on, wooded trails to meander through, creeks to walk down and cross over. We exercised our barefoot horses' back ends on the "stair step" hill and took a long coffee break at the screen house site complete with outhouse, fire pit and high line for tying our grateful-to-rest horses. We rode all day and didn't cover all of the trails. We rode the next day and still didn't exhaust them all. I am so grateful for this gem so close to home, but honestly, if it were further we'd travel to get there. We can't wait to go back!!
